I am more Grateful when my Duas are not Answered…

I am at a phase in my life where I am more grateful when my duas are not answered because I have internalized 3 simple concepts with all my heart.

▪️ Allah protected me, I know Allah loves me and if He azza wa jal in all His wisdom is not giving me something then I know it’s not beneficial for me no matter how deeply I want it.

📖 It may be that you dislike a thing and it is good for you, and you like a thing and it is bad for you. Allah knows but you don’t know.

{Surah Baqarah 2: Verse 216}

▪️ Allah will give me something better in akhira. Allah is rejecting a need in this “temporary” duniya to reward me with a mountain of pleasure and blessings in “eternal” Jannah. Muslims who are patient over Allah’s decree will see their real reward and fruit of their patience and labour in akhira. Your home with Him. And excellent is the final home.

📚 ❝On the Day of Judgement, when the people who were tried and tested (in this world) are given their rewards, the people who were pardoned (in life), will wish that their skins had been cut off with scissors while they were in the world.❞

– Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

[Tirmidhi]

📖 But you prefer the worldly life,

While the Hereafter is better and more enduring.

{Surah Al A’la 87: Verse 16-17}

▪️ Allah’s timing is better than my perfect plans. Perhaps I am not ready to receive the blessings I am praying for. We pray for something today and we want it tomorrow but that’s not how a Muslim thinks or expects. Don’t rush Allah. And don’t lose hope while making those duas repeatedly.

📖 Man was created of haste. I will show you My signs, so do not impatiently urge Me.

{Surat Al-‘Anbyā’ 21: Verse 37}

📜 “Muwarraq Al-‘Ajlee said: “I have been asking my Lord for something for over 20 years. Yet, I have still not received it, and nor have I given up hope.”

(Al-Adaab al-Shar’iyyah)

May Allah subhana wa’taala make us those who always choose what is right and give us an understanding of righteousness that is rooted in doing only those things that are pleasing to Him. May He always keep us content, humble and submissive towards His plans for us – Allahumma ameen.
